worth

when I was little,

I had growing pains

I'd feel like my bones

were being stretched apart like taffy, twisted, turned and fashioned into what I was supposed to be,

elastic enough to fit into a mold prepared for me by someone else

when I became older,

I fell in love

I'd feel like my heart

was being chiseled away like marble, nicked and brushed away into what I wanted to be for him,

beautiful enough to be admired by someone else

when I became me,

I became a part of him,

like growing up, we grow together,

and at times there's aches and pains for little gains

but it's all worth it

when I became him,

I fell in love with me,

like falling in love initially,

I learned to polish all the notches that shapes my beating heart

and at times there's aches and pains and days that rain

but it's all worth it
